Traditional security systems aren\u2019t holding up to incoming encrypted traffic anymore. The number of cyberattacks<\/a> are on the rise – there were 1.5 times as many ransomware attacks in 2021 compared to 2020 with over 230 million ransomware attacks in just the first half of 2022. Attackers are clever as once they get past security systems they quickly hide their tracks and lay dormant so defenses don\u2019t notice anything wrong. Over 70% of networks are dark space – network infrastructure such as firewalls, routers, proxies, and more meaning that once an attacker is in, they have nearly free reign within a network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes stopping threats before they breach a system even more important, but many legacy tools that are still in use aren\u2019t able to handle encrypted traffic. Many IT professionals lack tools to detect, intercept, and analyze threats from encrypted sources. Many are also commonly not familiar enough with a network to be aware enough of every communications device. Tools that are able to sort through encrypted traffic require decryption, adding cost, complexity, and time to anything done on that network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Network detection and response<\/a>, or NDR, systems don\u2019t add latency and expense to secure against encryption. This is done by using AI to remove the need for decryption as the AI builds a fingerprint of all assets and behavior patterns to monitor for anomalous usage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
